1. Valve stem installation angle
The cryogenic ball valve cannot be installed horizontally, that is, the valve stem cannot be installed horizontally. This is due to the structural characteristics of the extended valve cover of the cryogenic valve. Otherwise, the cryogenic medium will fill the extended portion of the valve cover, causing the valve packing to fail, and transferring the cold to the valve handle, causing personal injury to the operator.
2. Pressure relief direction
As mentioned earlier, cryogenic ball valves generally release pressure upstream. It should be specifically mentioned here that this upstream direction is not always the opposite direction to the flow of the pipeline, but rather the upstream direction when the valve is closed.
For example, the installation direction of the shut-off valves at both ends of the regulating valve due to maintenance considerations should be opposite, and the pressure relief direction of both shut-off valves should be away from the direction of the regulating valve. In this way, during the maintenance of the regulating valve, when the two shut-off valves are closed, the pressure in the direction of the connected pipeline can be released, otherwise the gas in the valve cavity will be released to the atmosphere, causing environmental pollution and an explosion hazard.
Therefore, when installing the ultra-low temperature, pay special attention to the requirements of the valve pressure relief direction. The direction of valve pressure relief should be marked on the process flow chart and reflected in the axonometric drawing of the pipeline.
